M-City’s Turning of the Soil Ceremony was held on Friday 3rd November 2017 at 10:30 am.

The Honorable Daniel Andrews marked the event with the M-City development team including Tony and Peter Schiavello of Schiavello Group, and Nick and Rachele Saraceno, Domenic Sciglitano and Annette Sciglitano from Saraceno Group.

Hon. Daniel Andrews says of the M-City development: “Both the Saraceno and Schiavello families, their joint venture partners, and the lead tenants should be very proud that after a lot of planning, and a lot of hard work, they’ve been able to get to this point, realise the dream, and create thousands of ongoing jobs.

M-City is the biggest public infrastructure the state has ever seen. It’s all about keeping our state strong. We’ve got the strongest economic growth in the nation; last year we created more jobs in Victoria than the rest of the nation combined.”

The Schiavello today announced details of a new joint venture project, to transform a co-owned 3.52ha parcel of land into a unique multi-use precinct located in one of the fastest growing employment corridors in Melbourne’s east.

Schiavello Group and our joint venture partner, Crown Resorts, are pleased to announce the approval of our One Queensbridge hotel and luxury residential tower in Southbank, Melbourne.

“This project represents a significant and important milestone in my life’s work and my family’s ambition – to create a place of absolute quality for all Melbournians and visitors alike to enjoy and admire.” – Tony Schiavello, Executive Chairman, Schiavello Group.

The building was designed by London-based architectural firm Wilkinson Eyre and will be located in Melbourne’s Southbank. One Queensbridge will include a 388 room luxury six-star hotel, approximately 700 residential apartments and a unique rooftop restaurant and lounge, which will be accessible to the general public.

Schiavello Overview in Business Review Australia

The Village Belle Hotel is a heritage listed St Kilda icon and a grand old dame. Established in 1855, she began her days burdened by a less-than-savoury reputation, frequented by local criminals and vagabonds. Over the years she has transformed into a popular destination, so deeply embedded in the local consciousness, the surrounding area (Acland Street) became known as the “Village Belle Precinct”.
