Healthcare Sleeper Chair

The Sleeper Chair doubles as a comfortable lounge chair as well as a fully functional bed for when visitors spend the night. Meanwhile, an integrated drawer provides storage space for pillows and personal belongings, ensuring no tripping hazards are left on the floor.

Eight castors – four of them lockable – allow the unit to be easily moved, allowing for thorough cleaning both of the unit and underneath it, and effortless relocation to other rooms or spaces.

To bring the familiarity of home and an additional gentle touch to resident care, the Healthcare Sleeper Chair is upholstered and available in a variety of colours, textures and patterns – all waterproof, fire retardant, anti-microbial, moisture resistant, anti-bacterial and created specifically for healthcare and aged care settings.

To support patients and residents in care, the Schiavello Wellness team saw crucial importance in allowing family and friends the opportunity to stay by the patient’s or resident’s side. The challenge remained, however, that care spaces are limited and often do not allow the space for a futon or oftentimes, even a sofa.

With gaps in the market for a small-footprint bed, the team designed something flexible that could cater not only to that requirement, but also provide a seat for day visits as well. The resulting Healthcare Sleeper Chair takes up minimal space while still providing a functional and comfortable fold-out bed for visitors to sleep on. During the day, the bed effortlessly folds up into an armchair, and its upholstered finish creates a soft and homely aesthetic, combining to improve the resident/patient experience.
