A new end-of-trip facility in Brisbane’s Golden Triangle

545 Queen Street is a 10-storey cutting-edge building occupying an entire block in Brisbane’s Golden Triangle. Schiavello’s QLD construction team has helped further heighten the building’s appeal by delivering a tranquil and sophisticated end-of-trip (EOT) facility in the basement.

The newly built EOT facility adds another dimension to 545 Queen Street’s offerings, complementing the suite of modern and contemporary workplaces above.

All the modern amenities

The tranquil facility is designed with a conscious connection to nature and built to help staff start their day right.

The new space features separate male and female bathrooms, including 12 showers and five toilets, and cosy spots with lush seating. There is also a dedicated bike storage facility to accommodate 100 bikes – complete with custom rubber flooring.

Services fitout within a low ceiling

The fit-out began with a full demolition of the existing floor slab. The slab excavation allowed the team to accommodate a new drainage system and hydraulics. Additional works included a new mechanical system, fire, electrical, tiling, painting, waterproofing, and lighting works.

The services fit-out posed several constructability challenges due to the basement’s latent conditions. One major hurdle was the low ceiling height, requiring precise planning and leaving no room for error.

The resulting space embraces the ceiling height and the basement location. Painted olive green and punctuated by brass conduits, the exposed ceiling is a key visual feature. The industrial-inspired conduits connect the lighting fixtures and draw focus towards the ceiling without visually lowering the height.

Schiavello Systems and Omvivo adds luxury and sophistication

Natural timber tones found across the 165 VECOS Lockers keep the dark tonality of the ceiling in balance. Supplied by Schiavello Systems, the lockers feature remote access; eliminating the need for handles and resulting in a smooth, streamlined finish.

Mono Basins with pedestals by Schiavello subsidiary Omvivo adds a luxurious and sophisticated edge to the space. The sinks’ smooth bodies are a refreshing contrast to the textured wall tiles.

The new end-of-trip facility showcases the building’s commitment to corporate health and wellbeing, reimagining the possibilities of 545 Queen Street.

Proven track record in building upgrades.
