A benchmark 9,500m2 multi-level facility, GCF aims to foster academic and industrial research within the chemicals sector in Australia. The $80 million dollar project funded by the Australian Government will provide world-class research to expand Australia’s ‘green workforce’.

Home to over 100 chemists and engineers, and new laboratory spaces for more than 1000 students and 100 industry partners, Schiavello provided Centric workstations and Systemet storage pedestals for the Lyons Architects designed facility.

With the lower levels of the building containing teaching and learning spaces and the upper floors housing research and translational facilities, the height-adjustable flexibility of Centric promotes healthy work practices across multiple collaborative spaces. Local manufacturing was also highly regarded for the addition of the Systemet storage pedestals.

Aiming for a five-star Green Star Design and As-Built rating, Centric and Systemet’s own green credentials were a major contributing factor for their inclusion in GCF. Monash University has since added the Marina and Krossi workstation ranges to its approved product list for the same reasons.
