Westpac’s new Barangaroo office is a workplace for its people; an office that inspires staff to perform at their best and by default, be more efficient in the process.

The office adopts Westpac’s new activity-based working philosophy WorkSmart; a result of extensive research into the workplace and consultation with employees to explore their needs, wants and habits.

In turn, the Geyer designed space offers a diverse choice of places to work along with an array of wellbeing opportunities that cutting-edge offices now demand. A Wellness Centre, library, cafes, outdoor terraces and over 9,000 plants are just some of its features.

Individual and collaborative work settings spread across the multiple levels and are supported by Schiavello furniture. A proportion of the 6,000 Krossi workstations on offer are sit-stand and support of health and wellbeing objectives.

The workstations feature a bespoke cable management system that Schiavello developed over six months of extensive workshopping and prototyping. The future-proof solution upholds Westpac’s need for imperative cleanliness throughout the workspace’s lifecycle.

Acknowledging the need for privacy and to support focused work amongst the new workplace typology; Focus booths are also located along floor perimeters. A place of refuge that comes with optimal harbour views thanks to extensive glazing.

And, amongst the endless array of opportunities that cultivate a sense of community is the Create Table: a large custom table where people can meet or work. Featuring pullout keyboard, mouse and laptop stands, the innovative concept was brought to life by Schiavello’s internal engineering and design teams. While attentive to neat cable management, the team also worked closely with ergonomist Dr David Caple to ensure the table was ergonomically sound and functional.

The project highlights the ability of Schiavello’s Global Workplace Services team to seamlessly manage client needs, whilst working on one of the largest construction sites in Australia showcases the capacity of the NSW division to faultlessly carry out major scale projects.
