In 2014, Schiavello Group, along with PDG Corporation, completed works on the Prima Pearl tower in Melbourne’s Southbank. A high-rise residential tower, Prima is characterised by its glittering gold façade and unconventional footprint – a shape that saw Tony Schiavello inspired. Following completion of the landmark building, he set to work designing a sofa that would complement the lines and curves of Prima, and from this, Mena was born. A modular sofa, Mena features a soft rounded seat profile, offset by a firm, square back and arms, reflecting the juxtaposed edges of Prima Pearl. Following completion of his original Mena design, Tony has had the sofa in his own apartment at Prima for the past five years, and impressed with its longevity and timeless performance, he has now released it to the market.

Tony Schiavello is the Founder, Governing Director and Executive Chairman of Schiavello Group. A furniture maker by trade, he migrated to Australia from Italy in the 1950s, bringing with him the tenacity and can-do attitude that drove him to set up a business providing interior fitout and the supply and install of partitions to Australian businesses. Over 50 years since the company’s founding, Tony has continued to build an international business driven by the principles of innovation, quality and service excellence.
