On November 9, Schiavello sponsored the 2016 Eat Drink Design Awards held at The Glasshouse. The awards saw more than 350 architects, designers and their clients gather to celebrate the year’s best hospitality design in Australia and New Zealand. The Garden State Hotel, a Schiavello Construction project designed by Technē Architecture + Interior Design was shortlisted for Best Bar Design.

Most notably on the night, the jury inducted Melbourne’s Il Bacaro, designed by Chris Connell Design, into the Eat Drink Design Awards’ Hall of Fame. Maurizio Terzini (the man behind Sydney’s Icebergs, Bondi Italian, Neild Avenue) opened Il Bacaro in 1995 and the restaurant remains one of Melbourne’s favourite Italian dining spots more than 20 years on.
