The Village Belle Hotel is a heritage listed St Kilda icon and a grand old dame. Established in 1855, she began her days burdened by a less-than-savoury reputation, frequented by local criminals and vagabonds. Over the years she has transformed into a popular destination, so deeply embedded in the local consciousness, the surrounding area (Acland Street) became known as the “Village Belle Precinct”.

Over 150 years and thousands of litres of moonshine later, she is destined for a much-anticipated makeover. Schiavello Construction will be working closely with building owners Twin Path, along with Techne, Pure Projects, Erbas and Wood & Grieve Engineers. The project will see the hotel transform into a double-storey winter beer garden facing the southern end of Acland Street, with adjoining apartments on the Smith Street frontage.
