Mediwall allows patient services to be connected to the bed without the need for traditional fixed joinery. The wall-mounted system provides an array of services including power and data, medical gas terminals, nurse call systems, communications, dimmable lighting and more. These systems can also be pre-installed off-site in order to speed up the installation process.

Mediwall’s refined appearance removes visual cues normally associated with stress and poor health such as cold metals, plugs and wires. A customisable panel, available in either a coloured powder coat or laminate, Mediwall negates the clinical feel of a space, making it feel more comforting and homely. It also supports infection control by eliminating all external fixings where detritus build up can occur, and comprising of easily disinfected aluminium and laminate or MDF.

Mediwall

The front face of Mediwall is able to be easily removed, allowing an engineer to reconfigure or retrofit services, so as medical needs change, the wall can adapt to suit. It is also easily relocated.

Schiavello’s Wellness team identified a major gap in the health care market: services were always delivered in the same way – via an unpleasant, cold and uninspiring stainless steel panel above the hospital bed.

Over a number of months, the team deep dived into research regarding the effect that aesthetic qualities of a space have on the patient recovery process and response to care. With significant studies finding a correlation between stimulating, engaging and aesthetically pleasing spaces and a positive effect on patient recovery, the Wellness team began design on a seamless, attractive panel that could provide services to patients in a way not seen before.

The first of its kind in Australia, the resulting MediWall not only contributes to patient recovery, but also staff ease of use and contractor installation. During the research phase, the Wellness team also identified the demand for a service panel that was quick to install, easy to move and retrofit, and streamlined for staff to operate. With a modular design, Mediwall is constructed and wired off-site to allow for fast installation, can be moved and have its services changed thanks to a removable face panel, while the refined design makes operation effortless.
