The rise end-of-trip facilities

With a growing number of commuters choosing to cycle to work in Sydney, so too has a trend to upgrade end-of-trip (EOT) facilities for sustainable commuters.

A valuable asset for attracting and retaining tenants who want to encourage a healthy lifestyle amongst employees, 9 Castlereagh Street overhauled their facilities to incorporate new change rooms and bicycle storage.

The creation of contemporary aesthetics

Schiavello Construction NSW converted the existing basement space and sub-basement areas to accommodate 40 security bike racks, pump and water stations, plus shower and change room facilities. Custom joinery included prefabricated lockers, laundry storage, towel bins, and vanity units.

Jaime Bligh of V-Arc who designed the upgrade says, “A key driver for the project was to create a clean, contemporary aesthetic to reflect the A Grade status of the building”.

A palette of timber laminate, engineered stone and contrasting black and white finishes were used throughout, while the bike rack zone was a fun and vibrant destination with cycling motifs communicated via yellow coloured Pic Perf mesh perforated sheet metal.

Complicated structural installation

The remote location required complicated structural installation of reinforced concrete water pump out tanks for the new shower facilities, along with complete mechanical, electrical and hydraulic works.

With more than 20 operatives working within the confined space, our NSW team provided constructability and accessibility advice, with detailed daily management of the program and area significantly improving the delivery of the project to time and within budget.

Proven track record in building upgrades.
