Schiavello manufactures custom-made ceiling fixtures for University of Melbourne
Based on designs by PTID, Schiavello has custom-built a curved two-tone, acoustic panel and timber-look ceiling for The University of Melbourne.
The custom-made fixtures have been designed for seamless integration with the unique curved ceiling panels. The design allows the modern chilled beam mechanical system to cool the area without sacrificing the strong acoustic properties of the teaching spaces.
The process began with Tony Ruth, Schiavello Drafter. Tony took the PTID concept and created the initial drawings to kick off the project. The design was then prototyped and fabricated by Schiavello Manufacturing – allowing Schiavello Construction to undertake on-site trial and testing. This process allowed the team to identify issues during the prototype stage and rectify before construction.
The majority of the resources required for this custom project were available within Schiavello Group; increasing cost-effectiveness and streamlining the build process.
