A building with high environmental standards

The Green Building Council of Australia are advocates for buildings with high environmental standards, therefore it was no surprise that they decided to ensure their new office space embodied the principles of a sustainable building.

Schiavello Construction was appointed the construction manager looking after the building upgrade, interior construction and supplying the workstations, loose furniture and partitions.

Understanding Green Star requirements

To ensure the Green Star requirements were met, Schiavello ensured compliant installation of a fully controlled lighting system for the entire tenancy. This included blind control for natural lighting, the installation of a displacement air system for the office area, establishing a grey water system for tenancy toilet amenities and ensuring that low VOC level materials were specified for building works.

5 Star Green Star accreditation

The project was also required to be completed within a tight time-frame over the Christmas shut-down period. The result was a happy, healthy new work space that received the targeted 5 Star Green Star® Office Interiors v1.1 accreditation.
